Packwood House A lovely Tudor mansion famous for its topiary garden. Packwood House has its origins in the 15th century, but it is the major rebuilding of 1556-60 that we see today. The core of the house is a two-storey high square block. To this was added a 17th century long, low wing, forming an L shape.

 Port Eliot
  

Port Eliot Port Eliot is the home of the Eliot family, Earls of St Germans. The house has roots as ancient as the 5th century AD, making it one of the oldest buildings in continuous habitation in the UK. In 430 AD St Germanus of Auxerre founded a church here. That church grew in importance to become a bishop's seat and among the most important monastic sites in the south west. The priory was refounded as an Augustinian monastery in 1161.

Begun 1390 as the home of the Courtenays, Earls of Devon. Around this medieval core is a Gothic revival exterior by Charles Fowler, architect of the Covent Garden market. The interior is largely Georgian, with work by James Wyatt. Marble fireplaces, marvellous plasterwork. Medieval chapel.

 Red House
  

The home of Arts and Crafts Movement founder William Morris. Not only did Morris live in Red House, it was built by architect Philip Webb to his exact specifications. Red House features lovely Arts and Crafts furnishings, including wall paintings and stained glass windows by Morris's friend Edward Burne-Jones. Morris also designed the gardens that surround the building, or as Morris himself put it, "clothe" the house.

Rode Hall Rode Hall is an early 18th century country house set in a landscape garden designed by Humphrey Repton. The house was built in 1705 and extended in 1752. It is built of red brick, and features Regency interiors introduced by John Hope in the early 19th century.

An unusual early 20th century manor house of Cotswold stone, one of the last traditional country houses in England. Rodmarton Manor was built for Claud and Margaret Biddulph in 1909, by Ernest Barnsley, who created a lovely house in the Arts and Crafts mode.

Rokeby Park A Palladian country house built by Sir Thomas Robinson in 1735. Robinson was one of the leading amateur architects of his day, and at Rokeby he had a canvas suitable for his talents. He was encouraged in his efforts by Lord Burlington, who did much to promote the Palladian neo-classical style in England.

Rousham House and Garden A lovely, rambling house built by Sir Robert Dormer in 1635, surrounded by unique early landscape garden. The house, as the garden, were the work of William Kent. Much of Kent's work remains, particularly the elegant interiors. The house is still owned by the Dormer family.
