  Battle Museum
We had the pleasure of visiting here, and our information is based on our personal experiences  

Battle Museum An enjoyable museum of local history, with exhibits covering the heritage of Battle, the abbey, and the surrounding area. Diisplays run the gamut from prehistoric, Roman, medieval, Civil War, oral history, and more, with collections of genealogical material, old photographs, agriculture, and local industries.

  Bexhill Museum
  

A museum of local social history, with an especially strnog collection of historic costumes. Displays range from the late 18th century to the present day, with collections of toys, objects of everyday life, dolls, embroidery, and hand-made lace.

  Brighton Fishing Museum
  

The Brighton Fishing Museum is situated right on the seafront, in the heart of the historic fishing quarter. The museum traces the history of fishing in Brighton from the fashionable heyday of the Regency period to the present day. Among the displays are a 27 foot clinker built punt boat - the traditional raft used in this part of Sussex - plus old photographs, oral history exhibits, boating and fishing mementos, and a computer archive of boating records.

A museum of social history, arts and crafts in the Ditchling area. Ditchling has a long history as a popular centre for arts, with many successful artists settling in the area. The museum has permanent exhibitions showcasing the work of many artists who lived and worked in Ditchling.

  Fishermen's Museum
  

One of the most popular attractions in Hastings, the Fisherman's Museum began life as the Fishermen’s Church of St Nicholas, but was converted for use as a museum in 1956. Within the doors of the old church is a wealth of enjoyable displays based around a preserved fishing lugger.

  Hastings Museum
  

The Hastings Museum and Art Gallery has so much to offer it is hard to know where to begin. How about with the fine china and art collections? Or the Durbar Hall, built in the style of an Indian Palace for the Indian and Colonial Exhibition of 1886? In the Dunbar Hall are articles gathered by the Brassey family on their numerous voyages around the world during the 19th century.

  Lewes Castle and Barbican House Museum
  

Imposing Norman castle in the very centre of historic Lewes, begun by William de Warenne shortly after the Norman invasion in 1066. Lewes Castle was not completed until three centuries had passed. Unusually, there are two baileys surrounding a single motte. The castle is composed of a shell keep with octagonal corner towers, and a striking 14th century barbican. Barbican House is home to an enjoyable museum telling the tale oof the castle and the history of Lewes.

  Newhaven Local & Maritime Museum
  

A project of the Newhaven Historical Society, this museum covers the rich history of the port and town of Newhaven. Exhibits include historic photographs, maps, and artwork. There is a special display on the Newhaven Lifeboat, but the real highlight of the museum is the exhibit on HMS Forward; the wartime network of tunnels that were used in the planning and execution of the Dieppe Raid and the Normandy landings.
