Ickworth
Travel Information and nearby accommodation
An amazing Italianate structure topped by a massive rotunda, built for the 4th Earl of Bristol in 1795. It was to house the earl's art treasures, but they were seized by Napoleon and the Earl died (and his body was shipped home from Italy in a coffin labelled "antique sculpture").
Garden: The grounds of the oval Ickworth House are almost - but not quite - as unusual as the structure itself. There are formal 18th century gardens, but also look out for the huge Giants Causeway stones and tree stumps. Adventure playgournd, walking and cycling trails.
