Foy's parish registers commence with the year 1570, but the origins of the church lie much earlier. Though when a church first stood at this site is a subject for research, the present building dates from the 13th Century, when the nave and chancel were built. The church is unusually aligned from north-east to south-west probably due to the topography and the course of the River to which it stands parallel. The font is most unusual, since not only is it's decagonal form unique within the county, but it also has the largest bowl in the shire.
