INSPIRATIONAL COASTAL SETTING WING OF 17th CENTURY FORTIFIED FARMHOUSE This delightful 17th Century wing of Blegberry Farmhouse offers a stunning retreat situated in the heart of a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and set in a spectacular cliff top location with breathtaking views across rolling countryside towards the Atlantic Ocean and Lundy Island. The property is within a short driving distance to the village of Hartland originally a Georgian market town where you will find Hartland Point and Quay and a selection of shops post office craft shops and pubs. The character farmhouse was built in 1627 and is listed in the Doomsday Book the original plaque can still be seen in the hall.
Guests are encouraged to explore the immediate area which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and boasts wonderful walks particularly in the cliff meadows just 2 minutes from the house which are SSSI graded (Site of Special Scientific Interest) great for bird watching and wildlife enthusiasts. Easily accessible from the house is the coastal path winding along high cliffs to coves unspoilt rocky coves and sandy beaches. Guests are welcome to roam the 500 acre farm and observe various farming activities going on throughout much of the year including calves to feed lambing from January to May harvesting in August and September.
Also on site meet the resident ponies and donkey feed the chickens feed the ducks at the feeding station by their wildlife pond and enjoy the butterfly garden and seating area. If you can tear yourself away from the activities and beautiful location at the farm the wide sandy beaches and amenities around Bude or Bideford are within a comfortable drive and are perfect for those that enjoy sunbathing or surfing. There is also Clovelly which is well worth a visit with its steep stepped cobbled streets which lead down to a pretty harbour.
Visit a wealth of nearby family attractions which include The Big Sheep and The Milky Way to name just a few. At the end of the day you can relax in the lawned communal garden and watch the sunset or sit in the private courtyard which is perfect for al-fresco dining or a BBQ and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Play facilities: small play area for children offering various ride on toys football area swings climbing frame slide and trampoline (children to be supervised).
