A fabulous terraced fisherman’s cottage tucked away in Whitby, this characterful property sleeps up to four people.

This unusual cottage is spread over four floors and is tucked away in a quiet corner of Whitby. The property has been painstakingly restored with many of the original features retained, including beams and a fireplace. The spacious kitchen is situated in the basement and is very well equipped. With an elegant dining area, the welcoming sitting room has a feature fireplace with a cosy living flame fire. The bathroom is a delight with an original cast iron fireplace and a separate shower. Both bedrooms are tastefully decorated and offer a peaceful haven at the end of a busy day. The cottage is just a few minutes' walk from the town’s amenities and the sandy beaches, making this property an ideal location for a holiday.

Total disaster
Booked Lavender Cottage ,Clarks Court,Whitby for a well earned Xmas break. The cottage is in a great location close to all amenities. On arrival the cottage was lovely and warm and had everything we needed. Apart from hot water. As we didn't need to shower or wash up until the next day that's when we discovered that there was a problem. Attempted to fill the bath, water was trickling out of the tap, nice and hot at first then it ran cold. Decided to have shower instead and that was the same. We contacted the owner of the property to make her aware of the problem but as it was Xmas eve we knew that a plumber would probably not be available until after Xmas which the owner confirmed when she contacted us later on that night. We were supposed to stay until the day after Boxing Day but with no chance of a shower for the next three days and having to boil the kettle to wash the pots we had no choice but to return home on Xmas morning. Xmas totally ruined, ?620 out of pocket and not a penny compensation from the owner of the property Mrs House ,who informed us later that there was nothing wrong with the boiler although she had already informed us when we first contacted her about the problem that a plumber had been to the cottage previous to us arriving?????? Why would we say the water was cold when it wasn't. Sykes the company we booked it through have been no help at all informing us that any complaints should be dealt with by the owner. They are very happy to take your money but when anything goes wrong they are not interested. Anyone thinking of booking through Sykes think again. As for Lavender Cottage check the water before you unpack .

Lanedar Cottage is very charming and cozy, and we loved the historic feel and character. The town of Whitby is a wonderful destination.

Excellent location for exploring the town, whilst being quietly tucked away.

This is our second visit to Lavender Cottage and will not be our last. A lovely cottage, ideally situated away from the hustle and bustle.
