Sleeping five people in three bedrooms, this detached cottage in Quarnford near Buxton is in an isolated position with amazing views.

New Cottage Farm is a detached property in an isolated location in Quarnford near Buxton, with some amazing sweeping views over the beautiful countryside. There is a double room, a twin and a single, all decorated and furnished to make wonderful cosy retreats. There is a bathroom with bath, shower cubicle, basin and WC. Downstairs is a fitted kitchen, attractive dining room and a bright sitting room with a woodburning stove. Outside is a gravelled garden area, and off road parking for 3 cars. With the walks and cycling of the Peak District all around, and historic houses, pretty villages and plentiful tea rooms for the less active, New Cottage Farm makes a superb Peak District base.

The views from the cottage are superb, and the standard of the accommodation was excellent with everything you could reasonably need provided. The location is great, close enough to Buxton should you require shops, restaurants and people but remote enough to offer a feeling of isolation if that is what you prefer. As a base for Peak District activities it is ideal. A short drive to Bakewell and the Monsal Trail for bikes or easy walking and it is well placed for all levels of walking in and around the Goyt Valley and surrounding areas.

New Cottage Farm is a warm, well-equipped cottage in an outstanding location in the Peak District. This is our second time here.

Great cottage, has been refurbished to a high standard, nice an warm.
Mr Brown

A 'proper' cottage, cosily decorated, well-equipped, and breath-taking views
The owner was kind enough to meet us and let us in, and though we were only staying for a couple of nights, we were treated to a Christmas tree, chocolates, wood for the stove - the works. All of this combined with the snow-covered fields made it feel very special, and a great way to round off our Christmas holidays. We kept remarking how the cottage was like a tardis, compact on the outside, spacious on the inside. The decor was pretty and modern, but the stone walls, the steep staircase and the old stone trough at the window all recalled its past life as a farm cottage. All very cosy and comfortable, with one caveat : the staircase is extremely steep, and made of stone. I did worry slightly about sleppwalking kids taking a tumble. Perhaps a stairgate for the kids' bedroom door?

The cottage was rather tardis-like; much more spacious on the inside than I could have believed from the outside! The views were spectacular (especially in the snow), and the wood burner made it feel really cosy and magical. Also, difficult to explain, but the cottage really felt like a 'true cottage' with its deep stone sills and chunky beams.
