A very rustic, quirky retreat complete with beams and creaks. We loved the AGA, which keeps the kitchen toasty warm and the children loved being able to explore the garden. It was great to be able to bring the dog with us.

A lovely old cottage with a rambling garden that has been allowed to keep its character. Excellent for a quiet getaway with dogs.

The cottage is in a beautiful rural location - very quiet and peaceful and potentially idyllic. We expected the cottage to be rustic and charming. It is quite spacious, and wonderfully warming with the Aga. However the d?cor leaves an awful lot to be desired, and plaster is coming away from the walls in several places. The windows need a good clean and cobwebs can be found in nearly every room. I had to wash all of the cutlery, crockery and useable pans because they were so grubby - several pans were not useable for various reasons. On our first night several lights fused and we couldn't find the mains board as it wasn't sited in the place advised on the leaflet. One of the lights that went out illuminated the very precarious staircase to the first floor. As the bathroom was on the ground floor this was a serious issue - even in full daylight it is not for the faint hearted! The owner advised us next day of where the mains board was sited and so that problem was sorted. However, the shower, which had been leaking from the hose since arrival finally broke. Again the owner was quick to respond and rectify the problem. On the plus side, there were plenty of clean towels and tea towels. The bed linen was also clean and fresh however the pillows were badly stained. It wouldn't take much for this to be a lovely place, but as it stands, it isn't and rather put a "damper" on our stay.

The property was not the most modern but this was what was so charming about it. It was very comfortable, we felt at home immediately. All of the downstairs floors were very dog friendly. The owner was very pleasant without being obtrusive. One of the best we have ever stayed in.

We loved the rural, picturesque location, the amazing age and originality of the cottage. The Aga was great and the real fire beautiful. The spacious gardens were perfect for our dog.
