Gorgeous
This is a gorgeous cottage in a fabulous location. The fire was wonderful and the couches very comfy. Bedrooms are a great size and the beds the best I?ve slept in while staying in a holiday cottage. Bathroom is on the small size, but it is adequate. On the downside there isn?t a lot of room in the kitchen to store food and the cooker was rubbish. The igniter was broken and the oven took forever (over an hour) to heat up. The best part of the kitchen was the old fashioned ceiling drying rack. It got well used! There is a stair gate to keep dogs downstairs. A great idea as the stairs are wood and steep. I certainly wouldn?t have wanted my two crazies running down them! This did cause me an issue as my oldest dog decided he didn?t like been left and howled for hours every night. (The couches are very comfy, as previously stated!) The owners are lovely and incredibly helpful. I?d forgotten to check prior to arrival but the duvets were feather, hubby is allergic. One quick phone call and these were changed. I love feather duvets! It should be noted this is a working estate so there was a fair amount of traffic past the cottage, but this didn?t distract from the relaxing (howling dog aside) atmosphere.

Overpriced for the facilities but great location
The cottage we felt to be overpriced for what it was. For a family of 5 with 3 teenage children the bathroom and toilet facilities were vastly inadequate. In the details it offers it as a cottage for 6! The bathroom is tiny, no separate toilet and the fixtures and fittings old and inadequate. Nowhere to hang towels or put toothbrushes. The towels were very small. The cooker is very small for cooking for 6 and very dated. Outside it would?ve been nice to have had cushions for the chairs as they were often wet or damp. A parasol on the outdoor table would?ve been nice too. On the plus side, we were very grateful to have had our online shopping taken delivery of and unpacked before we arrived. Bike storage was excellent. The house keeper was wonderful, very friendly. She kindly offered us a mid week clean and thankfully brought fluffy larger towels and bathrobes for us. This would?ve been nice from the outset, considering they were available. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen luxurious. It was a great cottage for exploring the local area. The owners have given access to numerous walking trails which was very good. The children could safely explore on foot or bikes without having to negotiate busy roads. It felt very private and very beautiful surroundings.

Lovely cottage, stunning living room
The cottage is on a county estate but as it's the end of the block you don't feel as though you are attached at all. The living room is beautiful with a great coal fire, we had going nearly all the time. Loved it. We did walk to the village, in the pouring rain, and found everyone we met to be welcoming and friendly, except the butcher who blamed us for the weather!! Ha ha! His steak pies were delicious though. We only used the big bedroom and found it a little cold but the heavyweight duvet soon took care of that. We'd recommend this cottage to anyone except anyone who might have difficulty with the stairs. The fully equipped kitchen come complete witha washer dryer which was well used after our trip to Hadrian's Wall, yup, it rained again but didn't spoil our visit. Stay here with confidence.

This cottage was really homely, comfortable and set in a wonderful location. All you needed was provided and the open fire was particularly cosy on an autumn evening.
