Ty Nain nestles in the middle of 3 traditional stone terraced cottages, in a quiet lane, on the outskirts of the village of Penrhyndeudraeth. Just above Penrhyn Station, on the world famous, narrow gauge, steam hauled Ffestiniog Railway, and in an elevated position, it has stunning views from the front, over the surrounding Snowdonia and Rhinog mountains and the Dwyryd Estuary, from the head of the Vale of Ffestinog to the coast of Harlech. Almost from the doorstep are wonderful walks through woodlands in the Snowdonia National Park, or down to the beaches of the estuary foreshore.

The main part of the village is a few minutes walk away and boasts a selection of inns and shops. All the major attractions of Snowdonia are within easy reach, on foot, by car or by public transport. We can offer a reduced price weekly ticket for travel on the 'Ffestiniog Railway', running past the house from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog and back - 'Park and Ride' with a difference!! In fact, there's no need to use the car at all during your stay! A regular local bus service to Porthmadog stops just a few minutes walk from the cottage.

There are several other bus services from the village High Street to Porthmadog, Aberystwyth, Blaenau Ffestiniog (connections to the Conwy Valley Line to the North Wales Coast), Dolgellau, Caernarfon and Bangor (connections to main line trains along the North Wales coast to Merseyside and the Midlands.) The Cambrian Coast main line train, from Pwllheli to Machynlleth (connections to Aberystwyth, Shrewsbury, and the Midlands) stops at the 'Arriva' railway station in the village. This property offers 1 double bedroom (double bed), with extensive views, and 1 single bedroom, both with electric heating.

The ground floor bathroom also has an electric shower over the bath, and heated towel rail. The modern fitted kitchen is well equipped, with a full size electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The separate lounge/dining room has electric heating, and a television with DVD player, a video, and radio, and mountain views.

Outside, a small, south facing patio area with garden furniture also has mountain views, with adjacent parking for one car . A complimentary Welsh light tea will be awaiting your arrival. First £10 of electricity usage is included in the weekly rental price.

One small dog accepted (£20 per stay, payable direct to the owner). A small discount is available if booking direct with the owner, and short break dates may be variable - please ask. Comments from the visitors' book: ?An outstanding holiday in every way.

The cottage is spotless and well equipped, with arresting views and an unbelievable position by the railway!? ?Most of all, our little boy (aged nearly 2) loved the trains and will miss waving to the last one in the evening!? ?The front bedroom view is so therapeutic, it was almost a struggle to get out of bed in the morning!?
