Southover Farm House was refurbished in 2005 to a high standard and with the aim of making people view it as a holiday home, rather than a holiday let. The house is situated in its own large, securely fenced garden with a terrace accessed from the kitchen which is ideal for outdoor dining adjacent to the hot tub. There are extensive views from the house over the glorious surrounding Dorset farmland and woodland.
The large, well-equipped family kitchen has a sofa and chairs to relax in, a large island for gathering around while meals are prepared and seating for 16 around the two pine kitchen tables. The cosy sitting room has an open fire and is a perfect place to curl up in front of the tv or with a book (help yourself from the bookcase!) at the end of a tiring day in the hot tub or exploring Dorset's towns, countryside and stunning Jurassic coast. There is a fully-equipped utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, etc and downstairs toilet adjacent to the hot tub.
1 downstairs double bedroom. 1 upstairs double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. 1 upstairs double bedroom plus single and truckle bed.
1 upstairs nursery room with single bed and pullout bed. 1 upstairs twin bedroom. 1 upstairs twin bedroom with one pullout bed and ensuite shower room.
1 family bathroom. The house is fully centrally heated. Southover Farm House is ideally suited for family gatherings or friends' reunions as the accomodation is flexible and the rooms are high-celinged and spacious.
While Southover Farm is a working farm with crops, cattle, horses, watermeadows and woodlands, it is still a peaceful setting in which to sit and watch the horses graze in the fields and listen to the birdsong. For eating out the village of Tolpuddle, famous for the Tolpuddle Martyrs, has an excellent pub named in their honour which is less than a mile's walk from the farmhouse, while The Blue Vinny in Puddletown and Athelhampton House are both a short drive away. The busy county town of Dorchester is 8 miles away and easily accessible for the cinema or some retail therapy.
Puddletown has a convenience store for food shopping.
