Wonderfully located, spacious property in need of some TLC
Positives: - fantastic location, right by the lake and 5 minutes walk to Llanberis which is a nice quaint village, great as a base for visiting other parts of North Wales. - Spacious, plenty of space for larger parties to spread out - Enclosed garden ? there are some steep drops though so be mindful with younger children Criticisms: This property needs some money spending on it and some TLC. Whilst I expected the d?cor to be quite old fashioned (and had no issue with this as it is a pet friendly property) there were quite a few general maintenance jobs and facilities provision that needed attention:- 1. Not enough glasses ? only 5 pint glasses and 4 wine glasses to be found, no tumblers or juice glasses and we ended up buying some kids plastic cups which we left there for next guests 2. No Dishwasher ? to be fair, one isn?t advertised however with 8 of us there we were constantly having to wash up plates and glasses to ensure we had some to use. 3. Washing machine on the blink, we managed to get it to work twice but rest of the time lights kept flashing and it wouldnt switch on 4. Several plates, bowls and mugs were chipped and needed replacing, don?t think this would have bothered us if not for everything else 5. The garden had not been mowed or cut back for some considerable time, grass came past our ankles and overgrown bushes blocked path ways making it difficult to use, plus the previous occupants hadn?t bothered to pick up their dog poo which was not good when there are children who want to run about. We were really careful to ensure our own dog didn?t leave any waste there but to be fair, in the long grass its not always easy to spot. 6. General need of repairs included a bathroom light not working, which my husband sorted by changing bulb, ripped light shades, poor quality bed in main bedroom resulting in poor quality sleep (although other beds were just fine), really poor quality carpet upstairs which is in desperate need of replacement, paint spatters on windows, refreshing of kitchen equipment needed, one fridge had no shelves so couldnt store food easily, the other fridge had a problem with condensation, Look I don?t to be entirely critical, the property was available bang on time, cleaners had done a decent job, owner was friendly when we spoke to arrange key collection etc and we were really happy with location and space, its just when you?ve paid over ?1100 for a weeks stay you expect the basics to be there and they weren?t. It may be that as we had gone later in season and the property has had back to back bookings, there hasn?t been time to do a thorough maintenance and checks but we still had to pay the going rate. Also the property is advertised on Sykes cottages as off a mini roundabout, it isnt its on the main road which may cause confusion. Its also advertised as having space for 8 cars, which would be accurate except there are 2 large tourer caravans and a car kept there which meant you could park 3 cars easily possibly 4 at a push. If this property had some basic maintenance and a mini overhall, then we would go again but it could be so wonderful with a little bit of time and love.

Very pleasant and convenient accommodation
I stayed at Ynys Wen with 5 family members in April. It was a very comfortable let, and we enjoyed our stay. It was quite cold, as it snowed on the mountains on our first night there, and I'm pleased to say the heating worked very well. Some of us were from the Southern Hemisphere and needed a bit of warmth! The lounges were both very comfortable. However, the remote for the DVD player in the main lounge did not work, which made it a bit inconvenient. I also had a problem with the shower in the main bathroom. I could only get hot or cold water, nothing in between. I'd also suggest some shelves for toiletries in the showers and bathrooms. The WiFi coverage was spotty, as soon as more than one device was connected. Otherwise, lovely.

Was great for our needs as a group with ages ranging from 18 to 78. Llanberis Town, a 10 mins walking distance was great, also fab walks from 2 mins away for dog lakeside

Just what I was looking for a group of 9
Wanted somewhere that would accommodate a group of 9 people and it did exactly that. Was lovely and warm, had plenty of cutlery, good large areas and sofas to socialise, 2 separate lounges if some people just wanted a nap in front of the fire, and lovely a close to Llanberis so could take advantage of all it had to offer without using the car. Also I have no idea what the owner washed the duvet cover in but it was sooooo fluffy I just didn't want to get out of bed in the morning.

Thank you for everything, we enjoined our stay in the property and definitely we would like to come back to you if we had a plan to visit the Snowdonia again.
