Beautiful and enjoyable stay
We hadn?t originally planned to have a holiday this year but when we decided to have a holiday, we immediately chose Wales and fell in love with the photos portraying The Lodge. When we arrived, we were not disappointed. The lodge is beautiful and the farm surroundings are delightful to look at. Granted there was no treadmill or iPod dock (as the previous reviewer mentioned) but this did not detract from the property AT ALL. We also noticed a few flies (certainly not the quantity the previous reviewer mentioned) but put this down to the farm environment and certainly didn?t see it as an issue. We had three yorkies with us and they equally enjoyed the enclosed gardens with lots of space to run around and play, as did our 17 month old daughter, who also loved the many sheep and hens close by (some of which often popped into the garden to say hello). The property has plenty of space, with three deprecate living areas (kitchen, living room and conservatory) so great for different couples/groups to do their own thing if wanted. Overall, we loved our stay here and will be back next year.

Such a shame!
This property has so much potential, it?s spacious, lovely views and the hot tub is the best part! Sadly for us there were just too many issues to be an enjoyable stay. Could not get hold of owner to arrange key collection. Left several messages over four days prior to arrival, and in the end had to guess the key safe combination just to get in. Not ideal after a long drive. Owners mother popped by later and apologised, said her daughter does catering and is very busy. House had either not been properly cleaned or not occupied for a while. Was dusty throughout, only two of the five beds were made up and no extra linen to be found. We did hope for friends to visit one night, but as they wouldn?t be able to stay over this wasn?t able to happen. One of the main positives of the property are the lovely views, however these were obscured by grubby windows. So many flies were buzzing all around inside the property, and we had to get a can of fly spray to deal with them. As soon as we killed a couple, more would replace them and we were perpetually frustrated at them landing on food and surfaces. We didn?t have doors and windows open so no idea where they were coming from. We even found dead flies in the oven! Constant nuisance throughout our stay, without any exaggeration we must have killed close to fifty big house flies during the week. The garden grass was very long, this meant our small dogs were permanently soaking wet and we had to constantly watch in case they did their business somewhere we would never be able to find without a long search! Two of our party have arthritis and stumbled in the pot holes in the grass that weren?t visible because of the grass length which was very dangerous. Grass was finally cut on Thursday at 4pm meaning we had a day to enjoy it. Beds were not comfy at all and creaked something awful meaning the whole house woke up when you turned over! Smoke alarms go off intermittently when nothing is turned on that could affect them. Possibly an electrical fault? Tv?s upstairs can?t be turned over, they only show whatever channel is on downstairs. This is said to be a problem with the aerial but is clearly just a lack of sky multiroom meaning the excess tv?s are pretty pointless. Kitchen built in dvd also not working. There was also no iPod dock and no treadmill as advertised. We were looking forward to a relaxing family stay for our Mams 70th birthday, sadly we left very disappointed.

Beautiful peaceful cottage
Just back from a relaxing week's holiday at the Lodge. The house is beautiful and is set in it's own fenced garden within the fields of a working farm. When we arrived we found a lovely welcome pack waiting for us with eggs, milk, bread and welsh cakes which was a wonderful touch. The house is well equipped with everything you could need and there is plenty of space for the 2 families who stayed there. The living room is very comfortable and has a lovely view across the fields. We took full advantage of the fabulous hot tub, the kids loved it even in the drizzly rain. We would highly recommend asking to do a farm tour. Mr Jones gave us a great tour of the free range chicken area. It is one of the most peaceful relaxing places I have stayed in and the Jones family were very welcoming. The only drawback for us was that to do anything we had to drive at least 30 minutes, which the kids didn't like, and made it hard to plan on the coupld of rainy days, however the supermarkets in Newtown do deliver & we had a delivery timed just after arrival.

The house was beautiful and very well equipped and the hot tub was a fabulous luxury which we took full advantage of. Our children were so excited to get up everyday to see the chickens, sheep and wildlife in the surrounding fields and the garden.

Just perfect
We have just returned from a wonderful week's holiday at the Lodge. The house is beautiful and is set in it's own fenced garden within the fields of a working farm. Close by is one of the hen sheds and every morning our children were so excited to wake up and see the chickens running around the fields and in the garden! When we arrived we found a lovely welcome pack waiting for us with eggs, milk, bread and welsh cakes which was a wonderful touch. The house is well equipped with everything you could need and there is plenty of space for storing wellies, coats etc. The living room is very comfortable and has a lovely view across the fields. We took full advantage of the fabulous hot tub and on our last evening the sky was so clear we were sat in the hot tub watching the shooting stars. We would highly recommend asking to do a farm tour. We had a fabulous time driving around with Mr Jones in his landrover and learning about the history of the farm and seeing all the animals. There is loads to do in the surrounding area. Llandrindod Wells, Rhayader and Newtown are all within a half hour drive. If you fancy going further afield the coast at Barmouth or Aberystwyth and the National Showcaves (Dan-Yr-Ogor) are within 1.5 hour's drive. We would also recommend The New Inn pub where we had a lovely meal, which is just around the corner from the house. Thank you Lynda and family for a fabulous stay. We will definitely be back!
