Lovely big house
7 of us stayed to celebrate a 50th birthday. We booked through Sykes. The house is lovely very spacious and plenty of good seating for everyone. The beds are comfy too so all got a good night's sleep. Its very quiet on a night which is good .And the house when the heating is on gets lovely and warm The owner Mike is good to deal with and always answers any questions promptly. The property has a great summerhouse that houses a lovely full size hot tub and an infra red sauna and separate shower/changing room so we all enjoyed using it to relax after a busy day. The only niggles we have is the house is now in need of a decor face-lift some painting is needed and kitchen utensils need replacing especially the knives which are all blunt and the toaster which you had to keep holding down on one side if you were toasting four slices. We wouldn't mark the rating down for that but some guests might so it's just some advice really to get these things replaced Where the house is situated in Skinningrove your just a 10min walk to the beach which is beautiful and so quiet and on the Cleveland way so you can walk to Saltburn. The area is ideal to travel to the north Yorkshire coast your only about 30mins drive to whitby with Staithes, Runswick Bay, Sandsend and Saltburn not far away. Can recommend the Fish Cottage in Sandsend for somewhere to eat In Skinningrove itself there's a fish and chip shop and little convenience shop and a restaurant right near the holiday let called Kaskane Cafe. We didn't try any of these so can't comment We would all stay here again

Perfect for larger groups, very dog friendly
We needed a holiday property that could fit the dynamics of our group of seven adults, three children and four dogs for a week away as a family after the enforced separations of the covid pandemic. The Powerhouse fit the brief perfectly with space in abundance both inside and out. The hot tub, sauna, pool table and air hockey were a huge bonus, so was the good weather. The house is situated in a quiet, sheltered location away from traffic going in and out of Skinningrove village. The sun slowly moves from the courtyard garden across the abundant seating areas at the front of the house ensuring sunny or shaded areas all day. There is a line of trees that keep the garden space private. Two beaches are approximately a ten to fifteen minute walk away, Cattersty sands being the most popular. Cattersty sands is located at the far side of the jetty. Follow the path to the left parallel to the sea heading towards the jetty and go through the large gap, a beautiful, sheltered expanse of beach awaits. Locally we ate at Kascane and Covells bar just a short stroll from the house which is dog friendly, booking is essential as it is very popular. Lovely staff serving good food, very reasonably priced and plentiful. Mini train, rowing boats and kayaks at Ruswarp, crazy golf at Jack and Jill at Scalingdamn, Runswick bay and Whitby all within easy reach. We had amazing fish and chips in Whitby at Mr Chips across the swing bridge. I booked tables with us being a large group and it being a busy half-term. They are very dog friendly too. Asda, Aldi, B+M and Greggs are a ten minute drive from the house for supplies and fuel. Overall the house was comfortable, tidy and relatively clean. A few areas had a thick build up of dust, not good for those with allergies?.Most noticeable was the beautiful centre piece hanging at the top of the grand staircase and the trim around the bases of bedroom furniture. We had an issue with the hot water supply in the house which was addressed promptly. However, the water pressure did drop if taps at both sides of the house were in use at the same time. Overall we enjoyed our much needed family time making lasting memories in abundance in and around a seaside village that is a hidden gem.

Perfect for large group or family
Large house perfect for the type of holiday we wanted all siblings spending time together for first time in our lives , sumptuous acomadation ,two lounges two kitchens and loads of space ,some bedrooms with ensuite plus others with the use of lovely large bathroom , short walk to glorious beach witch we were on everyday at 6 am , the owners Mike and Lorraine couldn't do enough for you ,reported the iron had stopped working and delivered a new one in less than an hour , and a lady came to check and service the hot tub and sauna everyday . All in All what a great place to stay ,would recommend to anyone ,

Lovely weekend house
I read a few reviews about a few things like tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets etc being there on arrival, but there was nothing of the sort. The House was very tidy on arrival but not particularly clean. Appart from that the house was amazing and we have loved every minute. As a family of 12 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs, there was plenty of space and facilities. Rooms are a decent size and lots of bathrooms. Hot tub isn't at temperature until about 7pm the first night due to draining and cleaning. There are lots of games, books and dvds in both living rooms, with a pool table and air hockey table. The beach is 750m away, but not particularly large, Saltburn is a short drive away.

Excellent accomodation and facilites - Great place to meet up with Friends/Family
Any complaints will appear beyond trivial, from arriving to leaving an excellent place to stay and use as a base to explore the wider area. 12 of us and 4 dogs really enjoyed our week long stay here, so much space, everything you need for a self catering break, 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, comfy beds, excellent hot tub and sauna (cleaned every day), plenty of parking, secure garden area for the dogs. If i had one very minor complaint, i would suggest doubling or even trebling the amount of Recycling dustbins, will filled one after 3 days :). WiFi excellent, giant TV to watch the Rugby on, and a huge kitchen table for sitting round (Doubles as a snooker/pool table apparantly, but too many Bottles on it to check). Owner (and family) very friendly, both on arrival and leaving, apart from cleaning the hot tub, never saw them during the week, nor needed to.
