This wonderful, stone built cottage one mile from Penallt, near Monmouth in South Wales can sleep up to two adults and two children in one bedroom and one sofa bed.

Anne’s Cottage is a delightful, stone-built cottage, set next to the owner's home, close to the border of Wales and Gloucestershire, just outside Penallt near Monmouth. In the eaves of this cottage, there is a double bedroom and a shower room. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a small double sofa bed, suitable for one adult or two children, and a woodburning stove. Outside, you will find a front patio with furniture and parking in the church car park opposite. Anne’s Cottage is a wonderful romantic retreat for couples, or a quaint base for small families, wishing to enjoy wonderful walks and explore South Wales.

Penallt Perfection
We had high hopes for our stay based on numerous great reviews. Even so, the cottage still exceeded our expectations. It is gorgeous with everything you could want (great views, tranquility and a really comfy bed) without losing any of its character and charm. There's no wi-fi currently but given some 'homework' in advance and all the leaflets and guidance indoors, this was little hardship. Mark and Catherine are very friendly and helpful but never intrusive - there if you need them but let you be if you're self sufficient. We recommend Clearwell Caves, Symonds Yat, Chepstow Races, Puzzlewood and the local pubs (Inn at Penallt, Boat Inn, Saracens Head to name but three) to quench ones thirst whilst walking and taking in the amazing scenery. Lovely people, lovely cottage, lovely holiday!

A lovely cosy stay
We stayed at Anne's Cotrage for 3 nights and wish we could have stayed for longer. The location is peaceful and far enough away from the busy towns to feel like a lovely retreat! We loved the log burner and cosy lounge area. The cottage is so well equpped, especially the kitchen, with just about everything you'd need and a few things you think you didn't. Be sure to have a nose into the many drawers in the kitchen and lounge where you'll find DVDs, maps, even stationary and an adult colouring book! We took advantage of the good location to explore by car and on foot. We visited Monmouth, Ross on Wye, Hereford, Abergavenny, Hay on Wye and Tintern. We recommend the 4 mile hike around Penallt looking out for millstones. We'd love to return.

Beautiful cottage in fabulous surroundings
We stayed at Anne's Cottage in at the end of March 2016 and it was the first time we had rented a cottage. I we will be doing it again. However, any other cottage is going to have a lot to live up to. The way Anne's Cottage has been decorated and furnished is so lovely. The well equipped kitchen is great. We have all thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the cottage, reading and taking in the fabulous views. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable and our teenage daughter said that the sofa bed in the lounge was comfortable too. The log burner is perfect for those colder nights and really warms up the place. This is a great place to use to visit the area. We've wandered through Monmouth, had a trip to Cardiff, visited Abergavenny and Caerphilly, as well as done some walks from the cottage. The cottage has a number of books/leaflets which shown different walking routes as well as other local places to visit. We had a meal at the Inn at Penault which was very nice. One thing to note is that phone signal is poor. This wasn't a problem for us as it was nice to not be on the phones constantly, although if affected our teenage daughter. We have already recommended this cottage to family and friends and wouldn't hesitate in coming back if we were to visit this area again.
