Perfect Retreat
Lovely quiet farmhouse with great views. Spotless, extremely well equipped with the most comfortable beds and the owner Sian is delightful. Fabulous walking area around Rhayader and ideally situated. Will definitely return.

Perfect rural retreat
Cwmcelyn is just perfect, we have had two weeks and loved every second. This cottage is so beautiful, rolling hills and fields in every direction with an abundance of wildlife. We have watched squirrels playing as well as a family of rabbits with lots of babies who share the lawn. The best thing is it's so safe for the children, there's a wooded area to the side with a gate where they have been making a den but for younger ones, the main garden is fully fenced with a little play area. The owner has also included plenty of toys, games, books and a few dvds. For the grownups, it's been bliss sitting on the patio at night with a glass of wine or relaxing in the hot tub. We've seen bats and an owl has been very vocal too. Because it's so rural there is very little light pollution so we've stayed up late star gazing and then slept in in the morning. The beds are super comfy! There are plenty of things to do in the area, the Elan valley is gorgeous and for excellent local food there is a quaint little 16th century pub, the Triangle Inn which is only a ten minute drive away. I highly recommend this property and we can't wait to return.

What a fantastic 3 night break! The farmhouse has everything you need. The weather was beautiful and the views are absolutely stunning. Thoroughly enjoyed the break and feel well rested! Huge bonus is the hot tub!

Truly worth 5 stars
We have just returned from a fantastic week at Cwmcelyn. It has been lovingly restored and has been made to feel like a home away from home, with everything you need for a relaxing break. There are three bedrooms. 2 are a nice size considering the size of the property, the 3rd was cosy but it would be a tight squeze for a 2nd person. All were clean and dust free, and beds were comfortable. Ample space in the bathroom and wetroom too. The kitchen and utility room totally assist you in making the most of a self catering hol with virtually every utensil and appliance you could need to cook and subsequently clean with. It was nice to arrive to find milk tea and coffee already stocked, with various other usful bits and bobs left by other guests. We felt compelled to add to the collection! The diswasher and tumble drier were handy too and you probably could get through the whole day without reusing the same plate or glass as they were very numerous.....we obviously didn't get that lazy though. The lounge was cosy although make good use of the fire as the stone floor was rather cold.(but we did have a cold week) The best feature, for me, anyway was the hot tub. Its covered but still gives you amazing views day and night (oh the stars!) and unlike some places i have stayed.....it was as hot or cool as we needed for us and our children. The garden is fully enclosed with a gate and safe for children to play freely. This cottage truly has it all if you are looking for a secluded relaxing break. There isn't a lot to do in the winter, but the local villages and towns have all you need stock up, with some lovely little villages to just explore. Many thanks to Sian and family for making Cymcelyn such a beautiful place to holiday. We can't wait to come back again.

Perfect holiday cottage
We have just returned from a perfect family holiday here. The cottage is in a quiet location, surrounded by sheep fields. The garden is huge and has a children's play and luxury outdoor furniture. The hot tub was amazing, great fun for the kids and relaxing for the adults. Great that there was the wooden canopy over to protect from the weather. The cottage was immaculately clean, and the owner had even baked a lovely Welsh bread for us and left fresh milk in the fridge.
