Our top tips for visiting north Wales include hiking to the peak of Mount Snowdon. This can be as simple or as vigorous as you like; our favourite route is the path that winds up from the youth hostel at Pen y Pass, but there are several easier routes, including the popular path from Llanberis that follows the route of the Snowdon Mountain Railway. But if exertion isn't your cup of tea, there are any number of historic sites to visit, incuding castles at Conwy, Caernarfon, and Dolwyddelan. Visit Anglesey, and the historic lighthouse and bird sanctuary at South Stack, Holyhead, or the moated ruins of Beaumaris Castle. There are stately homes at Plas Newydd and Penrhyn, near Bangor, but ultimately the chief pleasure of north Wales is the stunning scenery of Snowdonia National Park, in all its splendour. You'll love it!
