George & Dragon Hotel -Oasis Pub Ltd, High Wycombe

Accommodation Description:
A Coaching Inn built in the early 18th century, the George and Dragon provides comfortable rooms and good food. Recent concessions to modern living include direct dial telephones, en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and sky TV.

Through a cobbled archway on West Wycombe High Street, you come to the entrance of a coaching inn built in the early 18th Century. When you walk in, it feels quite natural that people have been doing this for almost three centuries. Generations of traders, travellers, lovers and visitors have left traces of their presence on the building and its atmosphere, not least of whom is Sukie, the beautiful social climber whose ghost is said to haunt the building

The attentive service you receive from our staff, however, leaves you in no doubt that you are in the present now. Whether you hope for quick service for a business lunch or a more relaxed pace for dinner with friends, you will not be disappointed. On a fine day, you can sit in our large garden where there is a children's play area

You can stay at the George and Dragon, and will find your bedroom both comfortable and interesting. Two of the rooms have four-poster beds and all of them have the uneven floorboards and quirky angles that come with age. One room straddles the archway into the inn's courtyard and another gives a view over the old roofs and chimneys of West Wycombe

Recent concessions to modern living include direct dial telephones, en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and sky TV. We have three full-time chefs who create an intriguing menu which is English at heart including local game, English cheeses, traditional puddings and lamb from the local estate. Some menu items and daily specials will represent the chefs' selection from the rest of the world and may include dishes from the Mediterranean and the Far East

As you would expect from an establishment where good dining is such a high priority, we also have a choice of well kept real ales, an excellent wine list and a fine range of malt whiskies.
