Porthleven is a gem - a picturesque Cornish fishing village with a lovely circular harbour and cobbled streets leading to lovely cottages and quayside inns.

The inner harbour at dusk

Night falls over Porthleven - the tall tower you can see in this photo acts as the town hall, and provides one of Porthleven's most memorable landmarks; the tower is visible from everywhere around the harbour.

This 17th century smugglers inn overlooks the entrance to Porthleven harbour.

Porthleven is a popular haven for surfers. Here, an avid surfer waits for just the right wave to dive in and paddle his board out into deeper water.

Dawn comes up over the town

Cobbled streets line the harbour walk. Pedestrians have to be careful when large waves send water crashing over the breakwater - you might find yourself having a sudden bath!
