Photos of Blakely RiseBlakely Rise (otherwise known as Blakely Raise, or Kinniside) is a small stone circle on the western fringe of the Lake District, south of Ennerdale Bridge.
|
Blakely Rise is a small, stone circle just south of Ennerdale Bridge. It is very easy to reach, situated just off the minor road south towards Haile. |
As you travel south from Ennerdale Bridge the road emerges into open moorland. Blakely Rise is set beside the road. |
None of the 11 stones of the circle are terribly large; what makes Blakely Rise so interesting is the location. |
Blakely Rise has been reconstructed, and the stones have been set in concrete for stability. |
Here you see the circle to best advantage in its open setting. Blakely Rise is sometimes called Kinniside stone circle. |
