Kirkby Lonsdale Heritage Snapshot
The Norman lord Ivo de Taillebois, the first Baron of Kendal, built a motte and bailey castle at Kirkby Lonsdale around the year 1092. Of this castle only the motte, or castle mound, remains, looking out over the Lune Valley and the river below.
