Set between Buttermere and Crummock Water and surrounded by the Buttermere Fells in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the hotel is on a site which has been occupied for over 1000 years.Walking, climbing, painting, photography, fly fishing, bird watching or just sightseeing are all able to be enjoyed within walking distance of the hotel and in the most stunning of locations.
We offer a five course table d'hote dinner served in the dining room with a selection of over 50 wines.
Alternatively hearty luncheons and evening meals are served in our air conditioned oak beamed traditional lakeland bars.The hotel has a selection of standard, superior and Four poster rooms, all en-suite, all individually designed and constantly upgraded.
All rooms have direct dial telephone but are without television and radios due to the poor local reception.
This adds to the tranquility of the hotel, which most of our quests consider a bonus.
