Description:
The Lutwidge Arms is a Victorian roadside Inn boasting fifteen ensuite rooms set in the pretty village of Holmrook, just a short drive from the magnificent "Walker's Paradise' of Wasdale and Eskdale.
The Lutwidge Arms Hotel is a Victorian roadside Inn set in the pretty Riverside village of Holmrook on the A595 midway between Ulverston and Whitehaven. It is located on the banks of the River Irt which can be accessed directly from the Hotel. We pride ourselves on the friendly welcome we offer, which is aimed at making you feel comfortable the moment you arrive. All our rooms are ensuite, some of which are very spacious. We try to please all our guests, (especially the little ones) because we want you to become return clients. We have a very good reputation for the wide choice of menu and the quality of the food we offer. All our food is freshly cooked from locally sourced ingredients, but we feel the wait is worth it ! (We have some excellent cask ales as well...) There are numerous walks to be enjoyed in the immediate vicinity, including a delightful meander along the banks of the River Irt directly adjoining the Hotel. A short drive away along the shores of Wast Water lake in Wasdale are the walks made famous by Wainwright himself, which can either be leisurely or quite challenging to even the most experienced walker. As a contrast there are also many interesting locations to visit to satisfy all tastes, including The Ravenglass & Eskdale Narrowguage Steam Railway, Muncaster Castle, The Sheep & Wool Centre at Cockermouth, The Roman Fort on the Hardknott Pass, the list goes on......
