There are many excellent reasons for choosing Grange-over-Sands as your weekend or holiday venue at any time of the year. Graythwaite Manor is one of them. Graythwaite was started by the Blakemore family in 1937 and quickly became a special and much loved hotel to which faithful guests have returned year after year. It has now passed into the enthusiastic and caring ownership of Mrs Jane Duncan and her husband Jim, who are committed to making Graythwaite into one of the finest and most unique hotels in the country. Some of the original family are still involved in its day-to-day running, and a warm welcome and personal care and attention are our constant aim as much today as it was in its early days. Graythwaite Manor is well noted for its excellent cuisine, the head chef working closely with the proprietors to ensure the highest standards. However you spend you day you can look forward to a four-course dinner, a choice of carefully prepared dishes and the right wine from our extensive cellar. We use fresh local produce as far as possible. Among the wide variety we usually include a traditional plain English roast with all the proper trimmings. Elegant, spacious loungeswith fresh flowers and antiques are part of the atmosphere. Here you will find room to relax, to chat or read, and whilst the hotel is always warm, log fires add extra cheer on the chillier days. This beautifully furnished country house provides an exclusive, comfortable and tranquil setting in which to unwind, enhanced by its peaceful situation in 10 acres of garden and woodland looking out over Morecambe Bay. Each bedroom is tastefully furnished. All have a private bath or shower-room, colour television, telephone and tea and coffee facilities. Many provide superb views across the gardens and bay to the Pennines beyond.
