Melrose is an elegant, traditional, Victorian property built with Lakeland stone and located centrally in the heart of Ambleside. In the summer months you will see the property adorned with flowers. This year Melrose won the prestigious award of the best guesthouse in the Cumbria in Bloom competition

Melrose boasts 8 letting rooms of varying sizes to allow flexibility for guests. The rooms are all spacious and decorated to a very high standard. Refreshment trays are provided in all rooms as well as complimentary toiletries

The owners will ensure that you are well looked after to assure you have a truly relaxing break. The guesthouse is ideally located for walkers, cyclists and tourists alike, being close to the fells, cycling terrain and fine restaurants. Passes for a local Hotel Lesiure club are included in the cost to ensure you have a relaxing time

A hearty full English breakfast is included in the price, or a lighter vegetarian is available on request.

We are centrally located in the heart of Ambleside a short stroll away from Lake Windermere.The nearest train station is Winderemere with regular buses from there to the market Place in Ambleside just around the corner from us.From M6 junction36 follow the A591 past Kendal and Winderemere to Ambleside. Turn left into Wansfell road and turn right at the bottom into Rothay Road and the one-way system. Stay in the right hand lane and turn into Kelsick Road turn first left into King street and then left into Church street- we are on your right hand side.
