Glenridding Heritage Snapshot
Glenridding has served as the southern terminus for Ullswater steamers since 1859. The first steam-driven boat service on Ullswater began in 1859. In 1889 one of the current vessels, 'Raven', was brought by rail from Glasgow to Penrith, then by horse-drawn dray to Pooley Bridge, where it was assembled, much like a gigantic children's puzzle.
