Kirkby Stephen Heritage Snapshot
The 12th century parish church of St Stephen holds an unexpected Norse treasure in the form of a metre high block of stone called the 'Loki Stone'. This carved block depicts the horned Norse god Loki, and is thought to have been made around the year 850 AD.
