St Peter's stands on a rise above the River Exe. There was a church here in the 11th century but the current building is mostly 15th century, with the addition of the superb Greenway Chapel (1517), a marvel of late Perpendicular style, erected by a wealthy merchant. Look for plaster lion and unicorn figures on the mayor's pew, and an organ built in 1696, decorated with carvings [possibly] by Grinling Gibbons.
