The Mistley Thorn, Mistley

Accommodation Description:
Tastefully designed restaurant with rooms in historic surroundings opposite River Stour. Boasting a Michelin Bib Gourmand, 2 AA rosettes, it was also the Editor's Choice in The good Hotel Guide 2007.

The Mistley Thorn is located in the centre of the historic quay-side village of Mistley and is a minutes walk from Mistley railway station, which has direct services to Colchester, Harwich and London Liverpool Street. Built as a coaching inn around 1723, The Mistley Thorn offers award-winning dining and accommodation in tastefully designed surroundings opposite the River Stour. American born executive chef Sherri Singleton has developed a menu using the best of seasonal East Anglian produce, including Colchester native oysters, locally landed seafood and organic vegetables

The restaurant boasts a Michelin Bib Gourmand award and 2 AA Rosettes. The comfortable accommodation consists of five large and well appointed rooms, some with panoramic views down the Stour Estuary. All rooms have deluxe en-suite facilities with large double-ended baths and powerful overhead showers

The King and Super-king beds have orthopedic sprung mattresses with luxury cotton bedding. Toilertries are from L'Occitane, and each room has cooff/tea making facilities with Clipper Organic products and homemade cookies. Free wi-fi is available throughout the building

The Mistley Thorn is featured in all major guides and was the Editor's Choice in The Good Hotel Guide 2007. In addition to running The Mistley Thorn, Sherri Singleton is the proprietor of Lucca Enoteca, a wood-fired artisinal pizzeria in Manningtree, and The Mistley Kitchen Culinary Workshops.
