Accommodation Description:
The Red Lion Hotel is an historical Grade 1 listed building (1465) located in the town centre of historic Colchester. The hotel is one of the oldest inns in East Anglia and has been described as a fine example of Tudor England.The hotel is located in the town centre and has excellent transport links to the M11, M25, Stansted Airport, Cambridge and Harwich

There are numerous shops nearby including well known chain stores and smaller, boutique-style shops. A quiet retreat from the modern world outside, the hotels Tudor features and warm red and gold fabrics provide a luxurious and relaxing environment in which to enjoy your stay. The old Banqueting Hall, which is now the Parliament Restaurant, has a remarkable beamed ceiling

The bedrooms are individually furnished with antiques and have a wealth of original exposed beams and wattle and daub walls. Please note that there is no car park attached to the hotel and the NCP car park is 5 minutes walk away. Parking in the NCP is £8

50 overnight and is to be paid directly at the NCP car park. We suggest that you stop in the loading area and off load your baggage into the hotel before parking.

Directions:
M25 junc 28 A12 - East Anglia and Chelmsford. Follow signs for Colchester approx. 40-45 miles along the A12. Turn off to Colchester central (exit after Colchester West).Continue 500 metres to a large roundabout and take 2nd exit (town centre).Continue to next roundabout and take 3rd exit (town centre). Follow this road until you reach the next roundabout and take 1st exit. Keep in right hand lane and bear right at first set of traffic lights. Drive up the hill straight on and turn left at lights at the top. This is the High Street and the hotel is 500 metres down on the right hand side next door to MandS. PLEASE NOTE: The Red Lion Hotel does not have its own car park (these were not required in c1465!). We recommend that you initially park in the loading bay outside the hotel take your luggage up to reception and check-in. The nearby NCP car park is £8.50 per overnight stay and must be paid directly at the NCP car park. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Red Lion Hotel.
