Light Infantry Museum

This museum tells the story of the Light Infantry, from its formation in 1968 from the former county regiments of Somerset and Cornwall, Shropshire, Yorkshire and Durham. Though there are displays relating the origins of the concept of Light Infantry in the 1750s, the museum concentrates on the modern role fulfilled by the Regiment.

Special features in the museum tell the tale of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Gulf War, and the Regiment's role in peace-keepin missions throughout the world.

The museum building is tucked behind Winchester Great Hall at the upper end of High Street.
