Between Hitchin and Stevenage Redcoats Farmhouse Hotel offers home-style food and cozy bedrooms. Dating back to 1480 the historic country house is set on 4 acres of grounds with scenic views out over the Hertfordshire countryside. With the A1(M) just five minutes away we are the ideal location for visiting Middle England or a 30-minute train into London.

We have 4 bedrooms in the main house and 9 in the Stable wing all newly-furnished in a different style. Guests can enjoy fresh local produce and specialty wines in the restaurant. The delicious breakfast menu includes full English options and gourmet fish breakfasts.

The young King Edward, who had only been on the throne for 3 years, was murdered at Corfe Castle, Dorset, probably with the connivance of his step-mother. Edward, later canonized, was succeeded by his half-brother Ethelred, known to history by the unfortunate soubriquet, Ethelred the Unready
