A restored medieval gateway that was built to control access to Lincoln Cathedral Close. Pottergate is one of only two surviving gateways to the cathedral precincts. The gate is pierced by a high arch, and surmounted by an upper story topped by battlements.

Priory Gate marks the location of one of the old medieval gates that gave access to the close surrounding Lincoln Cathedral. The current gateway, which straddles the north end of Pottergate, is a Victorian structure replacing the earlier medieval gateway here. The gate stands a few short steps away from a statue of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, a Lincolnshire native.

South Kyme Tower is a striking medieval stone tower that is the last remaining part of a 14th-century fortified moated manor house built by the Umfraville family. The tower may stand on the site of a Saxon manor owned by Earl Morcar and opposite the site of Kyme Abbey.

St Mary's Guildhall is a 12th-century building that may originally have been a royal palace. It was later used by the Great Guild of St Mary. The Guildhall stands upon the old Roman Fosse Way, and you can see a section of the original Roman road through the Guildhall floor.

Tattershall College is all that survives of a late medieval grammar school founded by Ralph Cromwell, owner of nearby Tattershall Castle. Cromwell was a prolific builder; in addition to the college and castle, he built the church and almshouses in Tattershall, which can all be seen today.

Woolsthorpe Manor is a small 17th century manor house, the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, who wrote many of his famous works here while escaping from the Great Plague in London. In the orchard is a descendant of THE apple tree (mind your head!).
