When the Great North Road ran through Belford, this sturdy and attractive house was a vital part of the London to Edinburgh stages stopping off schedule, as part of the adjoining Black Swan coaching inn

These days with the village long since bypassed, Market Cross is still an ideal resting-place for the discerning traveller, where, on fine mornings you may be fortunate enough to sample one of Jill's famous Northumbrian breakfasts, out in the open air, in the old enclosed courtyard. All rooms are en-suite include digital TV, mini fridge, a well stocked courtesy tray, dressing gowns, complimentary toiletries, fresh fruit and a glass of sherry. Breakfast is our speciality
