Old Park house has a long and convoluted history, which can be traced back to as early as the 1480?s. It witnessed the Abbey falling victim to Henry VIII?s enforced closures in the 1530?s and became the ancient family mansion of the Hill?s of Attingham

Having survived the Great Good Friday Fire that ravaged Abbey Foregate in 1774, the house evolved from a private residence to an Inn from as early as the 1720?s. Located on Old Abbey Foregate and beside Horsefair, one of the oldest markets of the town, Old Park House would have been the first prominent building on the approach into Shrewsbury from London. Fantastic original oak staircases, large fireplaces and timber frames, it is one of Shrewsbury?s most unique buildings

Our 15th century dining room with huge inglenook fireplace and stone slabbed floor hosts a huge refectory table seating 12 people. Any meal is transformed into a grand affair here, guests are invited to help themselves to a selection of locally sourced starters including organic muesli from Pimhill & fresh fruit salad.
