The Waggon and Horses is a family owned country pub hotel restaurant in North Essex close to the Suffolk county border half way between Colchester and Cambridge near to Halstead, Braintree, Sudbury and Haverhill. A good stopping off place for Stansted Airport, Constable Country and Hedingham Castle. This Inn, built in the 16th century provides a warm welcome and plenty of charm with its heavily beamed bar and dining room

We are open all day providing a range of choice wines, spirits and beers, as well as bar and dining room menus all home prepared and cooked by our chef. As a Free House we take pride in our range of real ales, most of these being local to East Anglia. Wi-Fi broadband connection available free to guests

Directions:
From CambridgeGreat Yeldham is conveniently situated on the A1017 (formerly A604) From Cambridge look for the A1307 Haverhill and Colchester. Continue along the A1307 A1017 until reaching Great Yeldham. The Waggon and Horses is clearly signed on your right hand side.From Bury St Edmunds.Look for the A134 signposted Sudbury. From Sudbury take the A131 towards Halstead. Look for turning to the right to Sible and Castle Hedingham (B1058). Once you hit Sible Hedingham turn right onto the A1017 signposted Cambridge. Great Yeldham is 5 minutes away and we are on the left as you enter the village.From Braintree and the M11.From the M11 come off at Junc 8 A120 and follow the signs to Great Dunmow and Braintree. Continue along the A120 for approximately 25 minutes until you see signs for Halstead and Sudbury (A131). Follow the A131 until you see a sign for the A1017 Gosfield Sible Hedingham. Stay on this road until arriving at Great Yeldham. We are on the left as you enter the village.
