The Crown Hotel is on the high street of Wootton Bassett in North Wiltshire. Dating back to the early 1600s, this attractive, white-washed building is grade ll listed. Inside there is a welcoming atmosphere, with exposed beams and attractive brass and copper ornaments in the lounge and raised dining area

At the heart of the high street it is a perfect drop-in place for locals and visitors alike. On offer you can choose from a selection of real ales, cider, lager, beers and spirits or opt for freshly made filter coffee or a pot of tea. The current owners are pleased to offer a comprehensive menu for lunch and dinner, with choices from the main menu of steak, fish and vegetarian dishes supplemented by a selection of bar meals - jacket potatoes, sandwiches and baps

To finish off there is a choice of sweets including traditional delights such as spotted dick and apple crumble. In summer you can sit outside in the sheltered beer garden and in winter pass the time in the games room. A general knowledge quiz takes place Tuesdays, 8

30 pm and on Thursdays, 8.30 pm a music quiz. Cash prizes, all welcome
