Most visitors to London will be familiar with the Blue Plaque scheme, administered by English Heritage. The Borough of Southwark runs its own blue plaque scheme, and unlike the English Heritage scheme, plaques are awarded by popular vote, rather than by bureaucratic decision. This plaque was erected outside The Clink by public vote.
