Gretna is the gateway to Scotland and an ideal base to discover the unspoilt beauty of Dumfries & Galloway with its many gardens and castles

The historic Borders and the rugged splendour of the Lake District and the Roman Wall built by Hadrian are all within easy driving distance. For the shopaholics the border city of Carlisle with its castle and cathedral nearby, 20 miles to the west is Dumfries home of the famous Scottish Bard Robbie Burns. Edinburgh and Glasgow are both within easy reach
