Four star accredited Knockderry House is one of Scotland?s hidden treasures. This recently refurbished mid-Victorian country house is situated in the village of Cove, just one hour from Glasgow. Idyllically placed on the Rosneath Peninsula, it has wide panoramic views of the Argyll hills, Loch Long and the famous Firth of Clyde. The modern house dates from around the mid-nineteenth century. The major extensions by William Leiper in the last decade of the century added considerably both to its size and to its architectural interest. A unique mix of talented designers, namely Daniel Cottier, J Gordon Guthrie ('Guthrie Junior'), Jekyll and Leiper himself, were responsible for the interior decoration including very fine examples of stained glass, woodwork, and fireplaces which can be seen throughout the building. Knockderry House is situated on the shores of Loch Long and particularly welcomes sailors. Conveniently located at the mouth of the loch, there are five 15 tonne moorings (free for guests) at the front of the hotel. We also offer ample FREE parking and Wi-Fi internet access in the rooms in the Leiper Wing. Whether you come for business or pleasure, a special occasion or a spur-of-the-moment escape, the welcome will always be warm, the service attentive yet discreet and the dining everything you would expect from an award-winning restaurant.
