Eildon HillsSir Walter Scot View, Eildon Hills
From Melrose, Borders take the B6359 road and turn left at Eildon Walk signpost, cross bridge and follow footpath for panoramic walk. For Scott's View (named after Sir Walter Scott who stopped here many times for the view) take the B6356 off the A68 by Melrose. This road also leads to Dryburgh Abbey | Borders

Fair IsleFair Isle
An isolated island reached by summer sailings of mail boat from Grutness, Shetland. Tel (0) 1595 760 222 or (0) 1595 840 246. National Trust for Scotland.

Falls of Glomach
Northeast of A87, east of Kyle of Lochalsh, Highland. Best reached from Dorusduain car park, 2.5 miles (4km) off the north section of loop in old A87. National Trust for Scotland.
One of the highest waterfalls in Britain set in narrow cleft in remote country. 5 miles (8km) walk-round trip takes 5 hours. Highland and Islands

Galloway Forest Park
Take the A712 from New Galloway or the A712 from Newton Stewart, which traverses the park-19 miles (30.6km). There is also access via an unclassified forestry track from the A714. The park covers areas of Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway. Southern Uplands scenery of wooded mountains, hills, lochs and streams. Deer, goats, otters, wild cats and other wildlife inhabit the forested areas. Climbing, walking, fishing, camping and swimming are available. The Galloway Deer Museum is in the park. A deer park and wild goat park are located in the Forest Park. Strathclyde

Glen CoeGlen Coe
On A82, south of Fort William, Highland and Strathclyde. Tel. (0)1855 811 307 (summer only) or (0) 1855 811 729. National Trust for Scotland.
14,000 acres (5665.5ha) with climbing and walking trails. Dramatic and beautiful mountain site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonalds by the Campbells. AV program and walking information in Visitor Centre (guided walks available). Ben Nevis is Britain's highest mountain at 4406ft (1344m). A well-marked footpath goes to the top of the mountain. A round trip takes approximately 8 hours. Glen Coe ski area. Highland and Islands
