o' Dee
On minor road west of Braemar, Grampian along the south side of
the Dee.
Famous beauty spot. The river running through a narrow chanel drops
into rocky pools. Grampian

On the B8019, 2.5 miles (4km) northwest of Pitlochry, Tayside. Tel.

56 acres (22.7ha) by Rivers Tummel and Garry next to the Killiecrankie

On the B840 and an unclassified road.
Scotland's longest loch at more than 25 mile (40.2km). Strathclyde

On A85 out of Crieff, Tayside, to the west by St. Fillans.
Flanked by majestic mountains. A favorite spot for water sports.

On the A83/A815/B8000.
A huge sea loch that reaches from the Argyll mountains to the sea
north of Arran. Strathclyde

Located in both Strathclyde and Central and Fife on the A82; also
off the B837 by unclassified road and hiking trail.
This loch is well known from the song. It is 23 miles (37km) long.
The north is mountainous and the south is wooded islands and shores.
A boat cruise leaves from the Balloch pier. Avoid on weekends due
to busy traffic. Strathclyde

Ness
On the A82 between Inverness and Ft William, Highland. The B862/852
(narrow with passing places) runs along the less traveled side of
the Loch.
23 mile (37km) long loch famous for the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie.
The Loch is forested along its sides and is the site of Urquhart

On the A827 and unclassified road on the south.
Mountain setting-Ben Lawers (Visitor Centre with AV program) on
the north shore; south route is narrow and winding but has beautiful

Lodge Estate
Five miles (8km) west of Braemar, Grampian, accessed from A93 via
unclassified road. Tel. (0) 13397 41433. National Trust for Scotland.
77500 acre (31362.6ha) estate is part of core area of Cairngorms
(also part of the Highland as well as Grampian), an important nature
conservation area. Contains 4 of the 5 highest mountains in the
UK and a remnant of a Caledonian pine forest. Wildlife and birdlife.
Short and long distance walks, no facilities. Grampian
Road
to the Isles
From Ft. William take the A82 (stop to view Neptune's Staircase
at Banavie-a flight of 8 locks, part of the Caledonian Canal). This
is a scenic countryside route 46 miles (74km) long. Turn left on
A830 which leads to the end of the road at Mallaig. This route passes
the Glenfinnan Monument, sandy beaches, coast and Glen Nevis. In
the summer you can catch a ferry from Mallaig to the Isle of Skye.
