07/03/2002 Entry: "National Garden Scheme Anniversary"
National Garden Scheme Anniversary The National Garden Scheme is celebrating 75 years. The NGS allows visitors access to the best private gardens in England on specified days throughout the year, with all proceeds going to charity. Details of gardens and a calendar of opening days are to be found in the NGS "Yellow Book" and online at www.ngs.org.uk
July Gardens: Throughout the country there are hundreds of NGS garden owners, enthusiastically weeding and deadheading, mowing and edging lawns, adding finishing touches to summer pots and, of course, baking cakes! They are working hard to make your garden visit to them, complete with home-made teas, the perfect afternoon out! So check your Yellow Book or visit Garden Finder on the website and see which garden near you is open this weekend. Check the regional pages on the website www.ngs.org.uk for garden photographs and more information about these highlighted gardens.
