07/14/2003 Entry: "Scarborough Spa Express opens"

Scarborough Spa Express opens

[updated 29 June, 2008]
Regular steam train journeys from the historic City of York and the seaside resort of Scarborough are now available. West Coast Railway Company, the specialist steam train operator, has re-introduced the popular "Scarborough Spa Express", with two trains per day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from the 15th of July to the 28th of August 2003.

What better way to visit the historic city of York or enjoy a trip to the seaside town of Scarborough than behind a nostalgic steam-hauled vintage train?

West Coast Railway Company, the specialist steam train operator, has re-introduced the popular "Scarborough Spa Express", with two trains per day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from the 15th of July to the 28th of August 2003 and if demand is sufficient additional trains may run.

York is a place of contrasts - a medieval walled city encompassing the delightful "Shambles" the magnificent Minster, historic churches, intriguing museums and offering the best of modern shopping experiences - in fact, something to interest every family member.

If York is the northern heritage capital of England, then Scarborough is surely the best in British seaside entertainment. Wide sandy beaches, popular attractions, a ruined castle, a miniature railway and some fine seafront walk, a must for the younger members of the family.

No matter what attraction you decide to visit once you have alighted from the steam-hauled "Scarborough Spa Express" at York or Scarborough, you can be assured of some of Britain's finest holiday attractions and entertainment, brought to you by a method of transport that is thrilling experience in itself to both young and old.
