01/07/2004 Entry: "Free Southwest England Walking Guide"
Walking Guide for Southwest England
South West Tourism, the official tourism body for England's Southwest region, offers a new Walking Guide with advice on walking routes across the region, from Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, through Wiltshire, Bristol and Bath, Somerset, Dorset and Devon, to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The Guide also lists a selection of B&Bs, hotels and self-catering accommodation that welcome walkers, many of which will accommodate dogs.

The South West of England offers superb walking breaks all year round, whether you want a gentle stroll to a village pub or a trek along some of the UK’s most renowned walking routes. Walking is a great way to explore and enjoy the region, from the stunning South West Coast Path, to the fascinating Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean, and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast in Dorset and East Devon.

For those wishing to explore the region in more depth, there is a range of guided or self-guided walking tours available. Walking tour operators will tailor your holiday for you, making sure that route planning, accommodation and luggage transfer are all taken care of. Expert guides will share their wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm about the local flora and fauna, history and traditions, bringing the region to life!

The Walking Guide is available in Tourist Information Centres around the South West region, or by calling the Holiday Line on 0870 442 0880. For a list of TICs, visit www.britainexpress.com/TIC

Information on walking and accommodation in the South West is also available on South West Tourism’s consumer website: www.visitsouthwest.co.uk
