The Highwayman comes to the LMA
Meet a mysterious Highwayman in a lively and entertaining show at London's Metropolitan Archives. This Family Fun learning day takes place Saturday 14th February at the LMA. Experience drama, storytelling and poetry as you explore the world of an 18th century highwayman. If you are between 9 and 12 years old, get your parents down to LMA on Saturday 14 February for an unforgettable experience! You will be able to meet our very own Highwayman as history is brought to life in our latest family learning workshop.
Highwaymen are some of the most mysterious figures from the past. During the workshop you will be able to ask questions which may solve some of those mysteries. Who was the Highwayman? Who were the victims? What made people travel so far on treacherous journeys? And what happened to the Highwayman and his victims?
As part of the action you will be able to challenge the highwayman in a court of law and decide his fate...
This lively and imaginative workshop is led by James Palm and Jessica Hartley of Phobic Theatre. James and Jessica are highly experienced actors who have done lots of performance with young people, including work with Tara Arts, West Yorkshire Playhouse and The Circus Space. James will work in role as a fully costumed Highwayman, whilst Jessica will guide activities in drama, storytelling and poetry skills.
There will also be a chance to see some genuine documents from the archives which tell the story of real highwaymen in the eighteenth century.
The previous workshop proved very popular, so you should book ahead if you are interested. See below for details.
