05/23/2004 Entry: "Lincoln Celebrates Roman Heritage"

Roman Britain Weekend
The cathedral city of Lincoln is offering a fascinating Roman weekend break; relax in historic surroundings and learn all about the Romans. The Roman Britain Weekend is packed full of talks, walks and activities based around the Romans in Britain.

Lincoln is a great place to spend a weekend with its unspoilt medieval streets surrounding the magnificent Cathedral. The course is taught in the beautifully restored, Grade 1 listed Lincoln Cathedral Centre directly opposite the Cathedral.

All our sessions are led by professional archaeologists and historians who are both approachable and knowledgeable.

The Roman Pottery handling session will be an in-depth workshop with a chance to handle a really wide selection of pottery.

The illustrated talks will be given by Craig Spence form the University of London who has 20 years digging experience in Londinium!

There will also be a tutor led walk around the Roman monuments of Lincoln. See the substantial remains of the Forum wall, the City walls the Roman Newport Arch and visit the underground Roman Postern Gate (Opened specially for us).

The weekend also includes a wine reception, Saturday evening guest lecture & dinner with plenty of time for coffee, tea and cakes.

Cost
From £225 including B&B accommodation, all course materials, Saturday evening dinner, Friday night wine reception all entrance fees, tea, coffee & cakes.
