Together with his wife, Margaret Macdonald, her sister Frances and Herbert McNair, Mackintosh was responsible for laying the foundations of “the Glasgow style”. An outstanding architect, designer and artist, he has been hailed as one of the principal founders of European Art Nouveau. The attractions covered by the ticket include:
· Glasgow School of Art – generally regarded as his masterpiece.
· Queen’s Cross Church, Willow Tea Rooms, the Daily Record Building, The Hill House at Helensburgh and the reassembled interiors of the Mackintosh House at the Hunterian Gallery.
· The Lighthouse, a centre for Architecture, Design and the City; and the House for an Art Lover, built in Bellahouston Park from drawings submitted as a competition entry in a German magazine in 1901.
The ticket, which reinforces the theme of the city’s recent rebranding as “Glasgow: Scotland with Style”, is available from the city’s SPT travel centres, tourist information centres, or online.
