04/27/2005 Entry: "Castle Howard Women come to Life"

18th Century re-enactment Entertains Visitors to Stately Home
On Wednesday 11th and Wednesday 18th May visitors to Castle Howard will be entertained as Lady Mary and Lady Elizabeth, daughters of the Third Earl of Carlisle, are brought back to life through a dramatic re-enactment.

Jessica Short and Keely Milovsorov are both second year HND students studying Theatre Studies at Park Lane Collage in Leeds. As part of their course they will be performing a short piece at Castle Howard, which will demonstrate how Lady Mary and Lady Elizabeth, would have interacted as 18th Century women and siblings

Jessica and Keely have researched these two prominent characters from Castle Howard’s history using material from the current exhibition ‘The Women of Castle Howard’ which is currently on view to visitors as well as addition material from other sources.

Hannah Jones, Operations Manager at Castle Howard said.

“Park Lane College has worked with Castle Howard several times in the past with great success. In this particular case, the students have shown dedication to the truth through their research as well as working on their drama skills.”

Jessica and Keely will be performing on both Wednesday 11th and Wednesday 18th May in the Long Gallery at Castle Howard. The recital is included in the normal house and grounds admission rate to Castle Howard. It is advised that those who wish to see this performance should arrive in good time.
