York Roman Festival 2005

The Romans are Back in York
York Roman Festival (5 – 7 Aug) is a celebration of the cultural and military customs that the Romans brought to York.

York was one of the most important Roman cities in Britain and for a period at the end of the 3rd century was the capital of the Roman Empire.

To create a better understanding of Roman history, military re-enactors will be in and marching around the city. Children's activities - Spirits of the Lost Legion ghost event, Roman talks, Living History camp Romans versus Barbarians battle Gladiators, Wrestling & Chariot Race Music & dance Crafts & stalls.
